Frequently Asked Questions
The Therapeutic Process
-
It’s up to you how much you want to tell me. Techniques like MEMI and Brain-Switch 2.0 will be effective even you don’t share details.
What’s important is that you feel comfortable and emotionally safe.
-
This generally depends on the issue(s) you want to work on.
MEMI and Brain-Switch 2.0 can be effective in as few as one to three sessions.
Attachment work will generally take longer.
-
If the issue you want to work on is highly distressing and affecting your day-to-day functions, then more frequently is better at the start (e.g. weekly).
As things improve, this can be spaced out to fortnightly or monthly.
-
All information that you share with me will be kept confidential, except in the following circumstances:
• Where disclosure is required under the law;
• Where I have reason to believe that you are (at risk of) harming yourself or others; or
• For the purposes of my supervision with my clinical supervisor.
-
Most clients are focused on the issue(s) they want to resolve. But it’s also useful to think about what you would like to get out of therapy.
What would a good outcome look like for you?
-
Yes, you can have someone else present during the session if that makes you feel more comfortable.
However, I would ask that the other person remain a supportive but largely silent presence.
-
If you're in crisis, call 1767 (Samaritans) or 1771 (Mindline) for immediate help.
For emergencies, please go to your nearest A&E or IMH.
-
I’ve helped clients resolve all kinds of memories, both “big” and “small”.
If something from the past is still affecting you today, then you deserve to be free from it.
